30 Oct Why Having A Break Is Just What Your Business Ordered
For the last two weeks I’ve been having a well deserved break in LA, well I say ‘break’ in the loose sense of the word since I’ve had meetings nearly every day! They say a change is as good as a rest and I agree.
It’s been over 5 years since I’ve been in LA and probably 10 since I’ve spent any proper time here. LA, also known as La La Land really is the land of dreams; real ones, crazy ones and all the ones in between.
I’ve been to parties with see through floors and seen shops dedicated to *fresh* dog food. If you wanted to know if there was a niche for your business, LA is a great testing ground!
It’s easy to dismiss LA as being superficial and flaky (I’ve seen a lot of cosmetic surgery), but that’s to judge a book by its cover and not it’s content. Look deeper and you will see a city built by entrepreneurs, artists and creators. It’s impossible not to be inspired.
Living in England, the weather is always a touchy topic, but it’s not until you spend long periods of time in the warm sun, that you realise what an impact it has on your mood, your day and your energy.
Getting out of your own environment helps you see things from a different perspective. Seeing how other people ‘do things’ gives you new ideas. Waking up to the warm sun every day, well quite frankly, just makes you happy!
This is why it is so important to build a business that can run without you having to be there *every* single day. You have to start automating your business, at least to some degree, otherwise, you are just creating a really big cage for yourself.
If you went away for 2 weeks, what would happen to your business? What about if you went away for 4 weeks? Food for thought …
Right, that’s it, I’m off to the pool … and a meeting or two! See you back in sunny old England next week.
